A Ginger Snap! PPA 231 Color Challenge!

Today I am presenting a card for the PPA 231 Color Challenge.  The colors are a bit tricky because they are quite similar.  Take a look.

PPA231 color challenge

After much deliberation, I decided to use the stamp set Wonderous Wreath Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! in order to create a simple Christmas card.  It is a bit nontraditional to create a wreath in blue tones but I decided it would be worth a try.

Details of my card –

  • The Bermuda Bay cardbase is a standard size 4-1/4 x 5-1/2
  • Increase the texture of my card by embossing with the Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder.
  • The wreath is framed with a Pool Party frame cut with an On Film Thinlit .  I liked this because it kinda reminded me of a door with a window.
  • If you look closely, you will notice that on the bottom of this frame, the sentiment from the Wonderous Wreath Stamp Set is stamped with Versa Mark Ink and Heat embossed with White Embossing Powder.

  • The various layers of the wreath are stamped using one of the inks from the challenge.  In addition, the bow and the hanger are stamped in Pool Party Ink.  All of these pieces were cut out using the Wonderous Wreath Framelits.
  • The wreath, the bow and the hanger are popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Pearl Basic Jewels add the finishing touch.  They are scattered around the wreath and adorn the 4 corners of my frame.

A Ginger Snap! A Bright & Beautiful Christmas Card!

The Bright & Beautiful stamp set has been sitting on my table and today I decided that I wanted to use it.  The detail in the stamp is lovely.

The Typset Designer Series Paper is perfect for background paper. It is delicate and luscious.  I love the feel of it.  And, it contains a nice variety of "newsprint" patterns.

My card is a case from the one in the 2014 – 2015 Holiday Catalog.  The card base is Very Vanilla.  If you look closely, you will see that there are actually 2 different layers of Typeset dsp.

The images from the Bright & Beautiful stamp set were inked with VersaMark Ink and then sprinkled with Gold Embossing Powder before being heat set with the Heat Tool.

A touch of red adds the final touch.  I used the Cherry Cobbler Blendabilitiesto color a variety of Rhinestone Basic Jewels.  Notice that the tiny sentiment popping out from the star was also stamped with Cherry Cobbler Ink.  In addition, a small Cherry Cobbler strip was added to the top left of the card.
