A Ginger Snap! Masculine Happy Birthday!

This is birthday week at my house with both my adult son & daughter having birthdays.  Happy birthday today to our wonderful son Chris!

Chris is an avid outdoorsman so The Wilderness Awaits is ideal for his birthday card.  Because it is a masculine card, I kept it fairly simple.  The elk is stamped with Timber Brown Staz On Ink on Watercolor Paper.

Using an Aqua Painter with Soft Suede, Crumb Cake & Early Espresso Inks, the elk becomes almost lifelike. The image is cut out with an Oval Framelit and the edges are inked for some added dimension.

The Oval piece is popped up on a piece of Soft Sky Cardstock that has been embossed with the Boho Chic Embossing Folder.  The sentiment from Fabulous Four is stamped in Early Espresso Ink on Soft Sky Cardstock.

Of course, I just had to share a picture of Chris with his boys.

And, I couldn't resist a picture from a hike they took last summer.  Thanks to his wife Jamie for being the photographer.

But, I did find a picture of the whole family.

A Ginger Snap! Witches’ Night!

Sometimes I create more than one card for a PPA Challenge.  Such was the case for  sketch challenge 269.  I thought I would share it with you today.

Reject slightly right

Just to remind you of the sketch I have included it.

PPA 269 Sep 24

This was a difficult challenge for me.  Guess you already deduced that when I made several cards for the challenge.  Here is the card I used.

Comparing the two, they are distinctly different in so many ways.  One is soft and soft while the other is bold and bright.  Of course, they feature different holidays too.

Please tell me which one you prefer and why?  Although I like both cards, I have to say that this was a difficult challenge for me.

Thanks for stoping by my blog today!

A Ginger Snap! PPA 271 Color Challenge!

It's time again to play with the PPA.  This week is a fun color challenge that is just perfect for the fall season.

And here are the colors for this challenge.

Although the stamp set Serene Silhouettes has been around for awhile, it is still one of my favorites and I thought it would fit perfectly for this challenge.  Using the Stampin' Write Markers in the colors of the challenge enabled me to get the variety of color.

In addition, I used the splatter from Gorgeous Grunge but I stamped off the Soft Suede Ink in order to provide some background noise without having it take over my card.

The sentiment from One Big Meaning is inked with Soft Suede Ink and stamped over the bottom of the image from Serene Silhouettes.  This piece is cut with the largest frame lit from Lots of Labels Framelits.

A strip of Hello Honey Washi Tape from the 2014 – 2016 In Color Designer Washi Tape adds some visual interest to the bottom of my card.  This is topped with a length of Old Olive Baker's Twine
