A Ginger Snap – Get Well

The card for the post today was created to lift the spirits of a male friend who is struggling with some health issues.  This card needed to be fun, colorful and uplifting.

What do you think – does it fit the bill?  Seems like my new favorite designer paper pack is Parker's Patterns.  It is my go to paper for masculine cards.   But I surprised myself by using it on a sympathy card – yes, you read that right!  Check back tomorrow to see the card.

Once you  select your designer series paper (dsp), it is easy to coordinate cardstock.  Just find the dsp in the catalog.  Stampin' Up! makes it easy to coordinate because they list the colors that are in the dsp.  That is how I knew that Marina Mist, daffodil delight and Cherry Cobbler would work with my choice of dsp.

I appreciate your comments and, I do read each and every one of them.

A Ginger Snap – Sympathy

I honestly feel that the most difficult cards to make are sympathy cards.  The emotion connected with any sympathy card has to be dealt with first.  Unfortunately, I had a dear Aunt pass away recently.  She did live a full life and for that we are thankful.   But, she leaves behind one remaining sister and I wanted to send her a heartfelt card that was simple.  So………….

Lovely as a Tree1

Look carefully at the bottom edge to see a simple but elegant bit of embossing provided by the Needlepoint Textures Impressions Embossing Folder by Stampin' Up!   The repeated image was accomplished by inking the Lovely as a tree stamp with soft suede ink and stamping once, then again without reinking.  I like the effect that repeated stamping gives.

A Ginger Snap – Thinking of You

You know how they say things come in threes?  Well this week I am feeling like this statement might have some merit.  Follow my posts this week and you will see why I am agreeing with this sentiment.

Canvas mojo with pearls

My card today is for a dear friend who is undergoing her 3rd surgery in a short time.  I wanted her to know that she is in my thoughts.  For this card, I want to share the steps that I used to create it.

1.  Decide on a stamp set – I chose Thinking of You

2.  Select a sketch.  I chose a mojo monday sketch.

3.  Choose a color combination.  Knowing that I wanted to use Island Indigo, I went to the Stampin' Up!  Color Coach for help selecting a color combination.  It presented 2 choices.  The sweet combo used Island Indigo, Baja Breeze & Rich Razzleberry.  Normally, I would select this combo.  But, I was feeling a bit more adventurous so I picked the creative combo of Island Indigo, More Mustard and Lucky Limeade.  Love that Color Coach!

4.  Decise on paper.  I immediately spotted the tulip pattern in the Summer Smooches paper pack and it was Island Indigo.  The zig zag in Lucky Limeade alslo came from the same pack.

5. Texture would add a nice dimension for my card.  I wanted 3 patterns that would work together without being overpowering.  Perfect Polka Dots, Fancy Fan & Vine Street embossing folders provided just enough texture.  And, the scallop border punch added visual interest.

6. I stamped the image in Island Indigo on a piece of  Canvas Creations.  Wow does that canvas work well!

7.  Put the card together and embellish!  Two flowers from the Flower Trim were snipped and inked with more mustard.  And, pearls added the final touch.

Hope you enjoyed the post today.  Please share what your process is to create a card.  I'd love to hear from you!
