Mar 3, 2014 | Thank You |
If you read my blog yesterday, then you know that the basketball team that my son coaches won the Western C Divisional Tournament for Montana. Over the course of the four days, a number of local people stepped up to help the team in various ways. As a stamper/card maker you can imagine that I volunteered to make some "special" thank you cards. I am going to show you 2 cards of the same design with the only difference being the addition of some designer paper. I'd like to know which one you prefer. Please leave a comment to vote for your pick.

Take a peek at the backside of this card. Notice the white circle for writing the message.

Here's card 2,

The school colors are red and blue so that is the basis for my color combo today. The blank circle on the flip part of the card is for the message.

The banner with the Thank You from Sassy Salutations is only attached to the card on the left side of the banner.

To give the basketball a bit more dimension, I ran it through the Delicate Dots Embossing Folder. Here's a closeup so you can see the detail.

I think I will use a similar design for the Congratulations cards.
Please consider leaving a message to vote for your favorite card.

Oh my gosh blog readers. What a week! In the state of Montana, there are 104 small rural schools who participate in boys basketball. In order to reduce that number to just 8 requires the teams to win 2 tournaments in order to get that golden ticket to the State Tournament. As you can imagine, it is no small achievement to get that ticket.
My son Chris coaches one of those teams – the Superior Bobcats. My husband and I have been following them all season. Driving Montana roads in the winter is an adventure in itself. This past weekend, we were below zero with bone chilling wind chill and about a foot of new snow. This type of weather is very hard on "diesel school buses". So hard that the Superior bus froze up. This meant that my husband and I were elected to chauffer the team around until a solution could be found for the bus. After 2 days, the bus was revived!
But, the purpose of my post today is to congratulate the Superior Boys Basketball team and their coach Chris Toivonen on an incredible season. They won both their District and their Divisional Tournaments. To date they are undefeated. That is not to say that they haven't been challenged. But, the coach seems to have an answer for whatever is thrown at them.
Here's a picture of the team with their trophy and the poster with the barcket.
Among the biggest fans of the Superior Bobcats are 2 very special little boys. My Grandsons – Conor and Carson. Here's a picture of them with their Dad after the game.

When Chris started coaching he took a team who had not won a game in 5 years. The first year he coached, that record was kept intact. The next year they won 11 games. In his 3rd season as coach, he took that team to State. He is an amazing coach – not just because he is my son either. He works incredibly hard at it and the most important part is that he truly cares for each and everyone of his players. He encourages everyone to come out for the team- not just the gifted athletes. And somehow he turns them into ball players. He is an incredible role model. And I am so proud to call him Son!
In closing, here is a picture of the trophy.

The PPA sketch yesterday was such an easy sketch to use that I created another card using it as my starting point. The Petite Petals stamp Set & Punch are just the ticket to fill the 3 circles on the sketch.

After stampin an image from Petite Petals, I punched them out using the Petite Petals Punch. My base circles were punched with the 1-3/8" Circle Punch from a piece of Sweet Sorbet dsp. The petals are pooped up with Stampin' Dimensionals. For accent, I used the Scallop Edge Border Punch with the same dsp as the circles. You know how that punch leaves a nice piece of leftover. Well, that is what I used on the left edge of the card.
I
If you look really closely at the Basic Black cardstock, you will see that it is embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Folder. It is difficult to get a good picture with black. The addition of Some Black Candy Dots complete the flowers. An In Color Dahlia placed in the lower right-hand corner draws the eye down.

The inside of the card was finished with Simply Celebrate and a petal from the Petite Petals.
