A Ginger Snap! The Other Half of My Promise!

Yesterday when I posted the Mother's Day card for my daughter, I promised to show you another card using the the stamp set My Mother.  This card is for my very talented daughter-in-law.  Jamie is a wonderful teacher, role model and track coach.  And, she is a terrific mom and wife.  Jamie is not a bling kinda gal.  Her tastes are more simple and so is this card.

Candy Dots and a bit of Coastal Cabana 3/8" Ruffle Trim add all the decoration I wanted.  The card base is Baked Brown Sugar.  A piece 0f Retro Fresh dsp is matted with a small border of Coastal Cabana c.s. showing.  The sentiment is handcut into a banner.

Hopefully Jamie will like her card.  I am so happy to have her as my daughter-in-law!  She is definitely a keeper!

A Ginger Snap! Thinking Ahead to Mother’s Day!

Whenever I see Mother's Day stamps, they make me a bit sad.  Both my mother and my mother-in-law   have passed on. Of course,  part of the sadness is knowing that I can never make a Mother's Day card for them.  Thinking about this, and feeling kinda down, I decided to go ahead and make some Mother's Day cards for my daughter and daughter-in-law.  Afterall, they are mothers too!  Although their personal styles are very different, I did use the same stamp set (My Mother) for both cards.  I will show you one card today and the other one tomorrow.  The first card is for my wonderful daughter.  She is so caring, bright, charming, talented – just an all around great person!

Beth loves bright colors and happy cards so of course, that determined my color palette.  Freshly Made Sketches provided an ideal sketch for my card.

Starting with a sketch makes creating cards so much easier.  And, I am really appreciating the Freshly Made Sketches.  Kaleidoscope dsp had exactly the color combo I wanted to use - Strawberry Slush, Bermuda Bay & Basic Black.  Because I wanted a circular shape and I wanted to maintain the edgy, modern look, I chose the Starburst Framelits for my shape.  They come in nested sizes so I knew that they would work perfectly for both circles.

After I cut out the larger sentiment with the Starburst Framelit, I selected the next larger size framelit in order to create the Basic Black Mat.  I cut 2 of these, then cut both in half.  After layering them for correct placement, I attached them to the sentiment starburst with snail adhesive.  This entire piece was then popped up with dimensionals.

After stamping the smaller sentiment with Black StazOn Ink on a piece of dsp from the Kaleidoscope pack , I cut it out with a smaller size  Starburst Framelit.  The hearts were stamped with Strawberry Slush Ink on Whisper White c.s. and fussy cut.  These are also popped up with dimensionals.  At this point, my card needed somethig else.  A snippet of 3/8" Strawberry Slush ruffled Trim stapled to the larger starburst did the trick.  A few well placed Basic Rhinestone Jewels and my card is ready!

As I was cleaning up. I noticed 1 stray heart.  I couldn't ignore it so this is what I did with it.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!  Please come back tomorrow to see the card for my daughter-in-law using the same stamp set.

A Ginger Snap! PPA 197 Sketch Challenge!

Time for another PPA Sketch Challenge.  This sketch is courtesy of the talented Nicole Watt – thanks Nicole!

Looks like fun doesn't it?  Please consider joining us at ww.ppa.com.  For my card today, I used a variety of products.  How many can you spot?

Right

I am happy with the way my card turned out.  Of course, I see options now that I didn't consider when I was creating it.  At first, I wasn't too sure about the Gold Foil.  But, it has grown on me.   I stamped the image from Blessed Easter three times  with Black Staz On Ink.   First on a piece of Whisper White Cardstock, followed by twice on scraps of Watercolor Wonder dsp.  I chose the pieces of dsp that contained a mix of  Daffodil Delight & Tangerine Tango, and then a piece with a mix of Island Indigo and Daffodil Delight.  If you look closely at the tulips, you can see that I snipped them from the dsp and popped them up with Dimensionals on the image stamped on Whisper White c.s.  The Gumball Green Chevron dsp is also from the Watercolor pack of dsp.

The On Film Framelits were used to cut both the Basic Black frame and the tulips.     The standard card base is Gumball Green c.s.  The Gold Foil pieces of c.s. were embossed with the Scallops Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and the Needlepoint Border Embossing Folder.  The foil paper yields such a definite pattern when embossed.  it is a dream to use!

A pop of color was added with the strip of Tangerine Tango c.s. punched with the Scallop Edge Border Punch.  The final bling was a splattering of sequins from the Gold Sequin Trim.  Just snip the thread on the trim in order to slip sequins off the roll individually.

Oh, the answer to my question about how many products I used to create this card can be found below.
