I keep thinking that I am going to make some sympathy cards to have on hand but it seems that whenever I need one, I have to make one quickly. That is the story behind the card for my post today.

As you can see, this is a simple but dignified card that is appropriate for sympathy card. The Floral Affection Textured Impressions Embossing Folder does the "heavy lifting" on my card. This folder adds beautiful dimension to any project. I used it twice to add flowers to both the top & bottom halves of my card.

A strip of DSP from the Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper mimics the pattern of the Embossing Folder. The Copper Embossing on the paper adds some shine to my card. I added several coils of Copper Metallic Thread behind the strip to add some texture to my card.

My card base is created with Kraft Cardstock. The strip of DSP is edged with Night of Navy Cardstock in order to create some separation between the elements. The card is a deeper, richer color than the photograph conveys. A few Night of Navy Enamel Shapes add a bit more color to the center of some of the embossed flowers.

The inside of the card also has some elements that coordinate with the front of the card and an appropriate sentiment from Flourishing Phrases.

Whew! I am back after a short absence spent with family. It was a fun filled week with lots of activity – a birthday party, a fishing trip, a paddle boarding excursion, a movie and of course the road trip. Today I am sharing a simple sympathy card that I made for a friend who lost her sister.

After uploading the picture, I realized that I needed something in the flower center so I quickly added an Enamel Shape but it could also have been a small punched flower. As you can see, I did not mask anything but rather just stamped a variety of flowers with Sahara Sand, Island Indigo & Mint Macaron Inks. In addition, I stamped the leaves with full both strength ink and stamped off ink.

Island Indigo Cardstock forms my card base with a mat from Blooms & Bliss Designer Series Paper covering the front panel of my card. That same DSP is used for a mat to back my sentiment which can be found in the Thoughts & Prayers Stamp Set.

The final accessory is a length of Mint Macaron 3/8" Sheer Linen Ribbon which has the "messy" look created by folding it over multiple times and securing it with glue dots each time.
This is a quick & easy card – one that I hope you will try. If you do, please be sure to send me a picture of your card. I would love to see your creation.

Jul 21, 2016 | Generic, Pals Paper Arts, PPA card |
It's time for another fun sketch provided by the Pals Paper Arts (PPA). My card is a whimsical & fun card suitable for anyone.
The sketch is courtesy of the bubbly & fun Pal – Maggie Mata.

This is such a fun sketch and easy to use with so many stamps that I hope you will consider playing along with Pals Paper Arts this week.

My card base is actually Pool Party but it is tough for me to get a good photo of that color. If you have any suggestions on how to improve the pic, I am all ears! The background DSP is from By the Shore Designer Series Paper Stack. Love this paper! It just seemed to fit with the circles on my stamped toad.
The middle circle is from the Brights Designer Series Paper Stack. Polka Dots were a natural choice because I wanted more circles! The small circle is Calypso Coral & it is stamped in the same ink with a flower from Biggest Birthday Ever. All of the circles are cut with the Layering Circles Framelits.

It seems that I am using the colorful Enamel Shapes on a lot of cards recently but they make it so easy to add some fun to any card. All of my stamped images are popped up in order to add some dimension to my card. The final addition is a piece of Calypso Coral Thick Baker's Twine tied in a knot.
