I keep thinking that I am going to make some sympathy cards to have on hand but it seems that whenever I need one, I have to make one quickly. That is the story behind the card for my post today.
As you can see, this is a simple but dignified card that is appropriate for sympathy card. The Floral Affection Textured Impressions Embossing Folder does the "heavy lifting" on my card. This folder adds beautiful dimension to any project. I used it twice to add flowers to both the top & bottom halves of my card.
A strip of DSP from the Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper mimics the pattern of the Embossing Folder. The Copper Embossing on the paper adds some shine to my card. I added several coils of Copper Metallic Thread behind the strip to add some texture to my card.
My card base is created with Kraft Cardstock. The strip of DSP is edged with Night of Navy Cardstock in order to create some separation between the elements. The card is a deeper, richer color than the photograph conveys. A few Night of Navy Enamel Shapes add a bit more color to the center of some of the embossed flowers.
The inside of the card also has some elements that coordinate with the front of the card and an appropriate sentiment from Flourishing Phrases.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

This is a different type of card and it is gorgeous!Perfect for a sympathy card.
Great use of the embossing folder. I hadn’t thought that it was a good purchase until now!
Perfect! OK I gotta ask, what did you use from the Christmas DP/The pretty strip on the inside is still part of the paper from the front isn’t it which is from the Affectionately Yours paper. Did the wrong photo of the DP get put in? I really like the kraft paper – how much difference is there between it and the crumb cake? I really like the front with the Night of Navy cardstock mat. Then, the little enamel shapes are fun with the metallic thread. The inside is really pretty with that top piece and I really like the sentiment.
Last night at card club we made a crumb cake one with that EF just at the bottom and then used washi tape at the top with some linen thread and a sentiment punched out. No where near as elegant as yours but a fun touch and mine is a thank you card. I sandwiched the green flower washi tape between two layers of the blue flowered Affectionately Yours washi tape. I am now going to add a couple of the enamel dots to dress up the embossed flowers. Thanks for the idea!
Gorgeous card!
