A Ginger Snap! Label Something – Anything!

Time to reveal day 2 of my challenge to use the same dsp & stamp set as yesterday but stepped up a bit.  Remember that tomorrow will be the final stepped up version of the card.

This card is also quick to make.  Basically I made 3 changes from the card yesterday.  Notice the change of orientation to portrait from landscape.  Also, the background is embossed with the Alphabet Press from Stampin' Up!. Finally, I switched up the color palette on the sentiment stamped with Label Something.

Rhinestones add a bit of bling to the label which is placed on the dsp banners.

As a Stampin' Up! demonstrator , we have the opportunity to preorder a month before a catalog is available to the public.  So, that means that I can order July 1st from the soon to be released Holiday Mini.  Consequently, I have spent a good deal of time today making my wishlist.  I have been back and forth about what to order.  First I decide to focus on Halloween and Thanksgiving.  But, then I see all the wonderful Christmas merchandise and I am lured to it.  Because I am having a tough time making a decision, I decided to ask you for your help. Please tell me what type of sneak peek samples you would like to see on my blog during the month of July.  Do you want fall holidays or Christmas?  Just leave me a comment with your choice.

A Ginger Snap! Tip for Making Banners!

Hi Readers!  I decided to have some fun on my blog for the rest of this week by providing a challenge.  Pick a stamp set and some dsp in order to create 3 different cards.  The catch – start with a basic card and step it up for tomorrow and the next day.  This is my basic card.

Label Something Birthday Basic

Those of you who know me presonally recognize many of my favorire colors in the Birthday Basics dsp.  I am definitely a Crisp Cantaloupe – Bermuda Bay kinda girl.  The stamp set Label Something provided the perfect sentiment for my card.

Sometimes don't you just feel like creating a simple card?  That was how I felt today.  And, I am pleased with how it turned out.  A tip for you – the Hexagon Punch makes perfect flag ends for any strip of paper that is 1-1/8" or narrower.  Just slide the paper into the punch and click – out comes a perfect flag end.

I did slide my cardstock into the punch until the edges of the cardstock and the punch match.  I am a little short of that in my picture.  Thanks to Mary Fish for sharing this tip.

The card definitely uses feminine colors but it could easily be adapted for a guy by changing the color palette.

A Ginger Snap! Summer – Take 2!

Yesterday I had time to create a few cards while I was basking in the arrival of summer.  I was really liking the Coastal CabanaCrushed Curry color combo so I went with it for this card too.  In an earlier blog post, I mentioned that when I first saw the stamp set Regarding Dahlias, I was not a fan.  How in the world could I have not liked Regarding Dahlias?  Must have been so tired when I first saw it that I couldn't see straight.  At least, that will be my excuse because I love this stamp set now!

Regarding Dahlias layered
I stamped the dahlia three times in different color inks then fussy cut different parts of the image.  Some pop dots to provide dimension, made the flower come to life.  Thanks to my friend Ann Schach for sharing this idea.

The 2013-2015 In Color dsp Stack provided the perfect piece of Coastal Cabana dsp for some backdrop. In order to mimic that pattern on some of my cardstock, I ran them through the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder.

If you look closely, you will see that I used the Scallop Border Punch to add some fun to the top of the patterned dsp.  And, the scallops just cried outto have some Pearls added.
