Aug 27, 2013 | Hello |
Oh my gosh! It is so good to be back posting. My husband & I took a short vacation & although I had cards ready to post, technology got the best of me. But, I am back and ready to share some cards with you.

Sometimes don't you just feel like making a quick card? I was in the mood for clean & simple and I have been itching to use the stamp set A Dozen Thoughts from Stampin' Up!. Honestly, I think the inspiration for this card came from hosting a deck party. The gingham paper reminds me of a tablecloth. Luckily the paper pack Gingham Garden had exactly what I was looking for.

Have you noticed that anything on a diagonal is trendy? Because my card is simple, I felt that the sentiment at a jaunty angle would add some visual interest. The color palette goes right along with the colors of summer. A few Candy Dots completes the look.
STAMPIN' UP SUPPLIES USED:
stamps – A Dozen Thoughts
paper – Gingham Garden 129310, Island Indigo c.s., Whisper White c.s., Daffodil Delight c.s.
ink – Daffodil delight
Accessories – Regal Candy Dots
Thanks for stopping by my Blog today! Be sure to stop back tomorrow to see a fun Halloween card.

The ever so talented Nicole Watt provided the sketch for today's challenge.

At first, I was twitterpated! I had no idea what I might do to play with this sketch. But, as I was daydreaming, an idea started to formulate. And, before I knew it, I was sitting at my table working out my thoughts.

Those of you who have been following my blog know that this is a very different look for me. Let me take you through my "daydreaming" process. First, I thought that I could use the coffee cup from the Perfect Blend Stamp Set to fill the long rectangle on the left side of the sketch. As I was thinking about the little insulating wrap on the cup, I thought that Canvas might be a fun medium. Of course, if a little is good, then a lot is better.

Considering Canvas, made me think of a sign. So, I thought- how about a Coffee Shop Sign for a shop that caters to creative types. This led me to the "paint splotches". So, as you can tell, it is probably not a good idea for me to let my mind have a play day when I have a Sketch Challenge!

The paint splotches were created with sponger daubers. I added a few drops of reinker to a very small amount of water. In order to get the splotch, dip the dauber in the water mixture without soaking up too much liquid. Then pounce the dauber with some force. Kinda reminds me of fingerpainting when I was a child.
The sign Canvas was pressed into the Tempting Turquoise ink pad in order to color it. The small piece of canvas used for the insulating wrap was pressed into Early espresso ink. To make it look like the sign ws hanging, I punched the small circle from the Bitty Punches and threaded a strip of Gold Foil through the holes.
Be sure to stop back tomorrow to see a Clean & Simple card.

This is a sneak peek of my PPA Sketch Challenge card for tomorrow. Can you guess what stamp set I used? I tried a different technique with this card and although I made a bit of a mess, I do want to try it again. It's one of those things that you get better at with practice. Isn't that true of most things?

Be sure to stop back tomorrow to see the full card.
