The Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge by the talented Margaret Moody has me playing today.
Looking out my window, I have been seeing quite a few birds lately and decided why not use them for my inspiration today. Luckily, the stamp set Beauty of the Season works..
- After stamping the image twice with Memento Black Ink, I used both the Cherry Cobbler & the Neutral Blendabilities to color the bird and the tree. A touch of the Daffaodil Delight Blendabilities was used for the beak.
- One image was cut out with the Circle Framelit, colored with the Blendabilities and popped up with a double layer of Stampin' Dimensionals. Notice how it lines up with the base image,
- Because this is a Christmas card, I matted the image on a thin layer of Gold Foil. It gives my card the richness that I had hoped it would. If you look closely, you cn see that I also used my Cherry Cobbler Marker to create some splatter.
- My sentiment – also from the Beauty of the Season, was stamped with Memento Black Ink and banner cut. A trio of Pearls provides an anchor for the banner.
- Of course, the banner is curled and edged with Cherry Cobbler Ink.
- Tying the inside to the outside of my card was accomplished by stamping a branch from the same stamp set in 2 corners, The branches were also colored with my Blendabilities.
- And, another sentiment was stamped on the inside of my card.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

STAMPIN' UP! SUPPLIES USED:
This is stunning, Ginger! I love the gold foil panel and trio of pearls on the sentiment. Someone will love receiving this in their mailbox!
Another beautiful card! I love the stamp! Nice job!
Puts a person in the mood for Christmas. I like how you used the blendabilities, very nice job on that. I also like how you stamped off the circle. I really like the inside of the card. It is my joy to come to your site in the morning.
You certainly have mastered the Blendabilities, Ginger…. I adore the shading that you do! My favorite detail is the continuation of the branches underneath the circle! Thanks for sharing with the PPA this week!!
Boy, I am trying to think of something clever to say but can’t quite come up with it – ummm bird’s eye view, a little birdie told me that Christmas is not far off better start making cards? Whatever, I really like this card! The round section is such a a fun change. I first thought why did she do that and then I remembered the challenge – duh! Your coloring is great – I don’t know if I could do justice to this wonderful bird? The gold foil paper is such a rich element! Did you carry the gold onto the envelope as a liner by chance? I plan on doing that to some of my cards using the ones from the Paper Pumpkin. The pearls are a really fun little details as well, But, what I really love is the inside! This is just so perfect! All in all this is one perfect card! Totally love it. My only problem is – the image SU did makes it look like the bird has fur or a furry outline. When I saw the image in the catalog I thought how odd! All your other details and the coloring of the branches distract my eye from the furriness. Does anyone else think that? Maybe I am just turning into a bird brain!
Wow, this is really gorgeous! Everything goes together perfectly! Hugs, Karen
Wow! Your cardinal is so beautifully colored, Ginger. And I agree… the gold foil gives the card such an elegant and rich look. Really pretty. Thanks for sharing with us at Pals Paper Arts this week!
Oh Ginger…this is just amazing, so much that it should be framed so you can enjoy it all year long! A true work of art!
