A Ginger Snap! A Delicate Pocket Card!

The Detailed Floral Thinlits Dies have been sitting on my table calling my name.  I decided to use them to create a card for my sister-in-law who has had some health issues.

This die looks intimidating but it is really easy to use.  In addition to the die, I also broke out my new Big Shot Platform.  When it is used in combination with the Precision Base Plate cutting these intricate dies is a piece of cake!  No wax paper needed! And, if you forget the sandwich to use with it, just look at page 194 in the Stampin' Up! 2016 – 2017 Annual Catalog because the correct sandwich is pictured there for our convenience.

After creating the pocket from Night of Navy Cardstock, I turned to making the slider card for the inside.  The lined paper found in the Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper Pack was perfect paper to stamp my sentiment found in the Hostess Set Time of Year using Night of Navy Ink. I created a tab to pull the card out by punching a small circle, also from Night of Navy Cardstock.  Fold it in half and attach to the card.

The card closure is created by wrapping a length of Watermelon Wonder 5/8" Mini Striped Ribbon around the card and tying it in a bow.  It does not need to be opened in order to slide the card out of the pocket.

This is a slider card which means that my shooting stars slide along the groove creating some entertaining movement.  It is so easy to create with the Shooting Star Stamp Set & Sliding Star Framelits from Stampin' Up!  The good news is that you can purchase them as a bundle and save 10%.  In addition to a slider card, this set can create a spinner card too.  Be sure to come back tomorrow to see one live.

A Ginger Snap! Heartfelt Sympathy!

When my husband & I first started our teaching careers we met a fellow teacher and his wife.  Living in a small community with little entertainment available, we spent a good deal of time together playing cards & games. After several years Bob & I moved. However, we have stayed in touch with our friends and on occasion we meet for lunch.  Sadly, we received word that his brother  passed away unexpectedly.

Here is the card I made to send them.

The stamp set Heartfelt Sympathy was perfect for my card.  After stamping the sentiment with Versa Mark Ink, I heat embossed it with Copper Embossing Powder. Adding loops of Copper Metallic Thread give my card a touch of artistry.  In addition, I used my Brayer with Tangerine Tango Ink on a piece of Irresistibly Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper.  It created a nice backdrop for my popped up sentiment piece.

Feeling like my card needed more embellishment, I turned to the Flourish Thinlits for a leaf and a berry branch.  The leaf is cut from Old Olive Cardstock Soft Suede Cardstock was used for the branch. A small piece of Gold 1/4" Natural Trim adds a touch of elegance without being overpowering.
