A Ginger Snap! A Sneak Peek!

The Holiday Catalog has a wonderful fall stamp set named For All Things.  I used a sentiment and a cluster of leaves tied with a bow for my card today.

Give Thanks left

As you can see, the main color for my card is the new In Color Blackberry Bliss.  It is a rich and elegant deep purple.  Accenting colors include Soft Sky & Old Olive.  Using the Color Coach takes all of the guess work out of  finding a good color combination.

Give Thanks rt

The Blackberry Bliss paper for my frame is from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack.  Look closely at the sentiment piece,  Do you see the cluster of leaves beneath the sentiment?  After stamping off, I stamped the leave image on the piece of Soft Sky cardstock.  It is topped with the sentiment from For All Things which is stamped in full strength Blackberry Bliss.  The Soft Sky piece is mounted on a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock which is then popped up with a double layer of  Stampin' Dimensionals.

2014 – 2016 In Color Clothespin adds some texture to the card.  A sweet bow tied with Whisper White Baker's Twine brings the clothespin to life.

Inside

The inside of the card reflects the front of the card with another sentiment from the set For All Things stamped on the bunch of leaves.  And a leftover strip of the striped dsp from the Moonlight dsp pack adds a fun touch to the base of the card.

This card begged for a lined envelope. So I used the Envelope Liner Framelits with some of the Moonlight Designer series paper. In addition, the bunch of leaves is  also stamped in the corner of the envelope – sorry I forgot to take a photo.

And, here is my take on the sketch.

For the Birds left

You may wonder where the strip of designer paper comes from.  It is actually from the Back to Black pack and I colored it with a variety of belndabilities.  I saw this technique on a blog post from Patty Bennett

Back to black dsp
And here is the same paper after I colored it with the blendabilities.

Cutting a piece of this created my backgound strip for my card.

For All the Birds rt

The bird bath image from For the Birds was stamped on Whisper White cardstock with Memento Black Ink.  It was also colored with a variety of Blendabilities and matted on a 3- 9/16" x 3-1/8" piece of Basic Black Cardstock.  That in turn was matted on a 3-1/4" x3-1/4" piece of Coastal cabana Cardstock.

A few Bright Candy Dots add the finishing touch.
