When I saw this card on Dawn Griffith's blog, I knew I had to make it for my friend whose Grandson recently earned his black belt in karate. However, this would be an appropriate card for anyone facing a challenge of any type – someone facing a serious disease, someone making a big change in their life, anyone going through a divorce…..
The Bear Hugs Stamp Set & matching Framelits are just the ticket to create this darling karate bear! Dawn received one in a swap & recreated him on her blog. And, I am casing it for my friend. The bear is stamped on Crumb Cake Cardstock with Memento Black Ink. The Bear Hugs Framelits are just the ticket for cutting this guy out. Cut one more bear with the framelits using Whisper White Cardstock. Trim the arms & legs so that his bear paws & claws are visible. Handcut a v in the neck.
The placket is created with 1/8" wide strips of Whisper White Cardstock trimmed to fit the placket. The black belt is created with a 1/4" wide strip of Basic Black Cardstock. The headband is fashioned with a 1/8" wide strip of Basic Black Cardstock.
The sentiment can be found in the Something to Say stamp set. After stamping it with Memento Black Ink, it is punched with the 1-1/2" circle punch and then layered on a 1-3/4" Real Red Circle.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today! If you like the bear & framelits consider getting them while they are in a bundle for 15% off. When the new catalog starts on June 1, 2016 this deal will no longer be available.
Hugs,
Ginger
Your card makes me wish I know someone who does karate!
What a darling card! I love the bear stamp thought the grandkids would love him also. I didn’t think of using the bear with this sentiment but there are so many different ways to use this cute stamp.
I knew you would love this. You did a great job with all the little tricky parts like his headband. I love the idea of using it for anyone attempting a challenge whether it be a medical one or a divorce etc. Some people are just so clever and creative to come up with all these!
Wow Ginger, what a creative card! You could use the stamp for most anything playful. I love this stamp set!
I don’t know how I missed this card. I have a few uses for such a strong card! Thanks for telling us how you accomplished the right attire for the bear.
