Welcome to another sketch challenge. This week fellow Pal & Design Team Member Amy Lazell has provided a fun & challenging sketch.
Here is the sketch.
As you can see, I chose to flip the sketch around so that my strip is on the bottom. That's what is fun about sketches – you can interpret them anyway you want. I have been anxious to try the Party Pop Up Thinlit Dies & this sketch gave me the perfect opportunity.
Ginger's Tips:
- Whisper White Thick Cardstock – 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 scored at 4-1/4
- Basic Black Cardstck mat 5-1/2 x 4-1/4
- Mat – 4-1/8 x 5-3/8 dsp from It's My Party Designer Series Paper Stack
- 2-1/2 Circle from It's My Party Designer Series Paper Stack.
- Using strips of each of the 3 colors found in It's My Party Cardstock Pack and the Party Pop Up Thinlit Die, cut the pieces for the sentiment and cake plate.
- Using the Fine-Tip Glue Pen, attach the strips to the circle.
- Pop the circle and the bottom of the cake plate up with Stampin' Dimensionals.
- Lift up the cake plate bottom and adhere 2 of the Washi Tape patterns from It's My Party Designer Washi Tape.
- Stamp the sentiment from Party With Cake with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement.
- Adhere 2 Crushed Curry It's My Party Enamel Dots.
- Of course, I just had to add some Washi Tape to the inside of my card.
- The sentiment from Party With Cake is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

That’s a card with a party going on and I love it! Different color lines were a great idea for the sentiment and it looks fantastic on the dotted DSP. Great idea for anyone, Ginger.
Absolutely clever & delicious layering of the cake.
I love how you used three colors for your die cut! Festive and fun card!
If this doesn’t imply fun and party, I don’t know what does! Love it. My favorite part though is the washi tape inside. I like that confetti paper, I haven’t seen that much of it. The layers of the cake and candle with their different colors are truly the “icing on the cake!” I really liked how you turned the sketch around. I swear one day I will try a sketch! Great job as always!
When I first looked, I couldn’t keep from smiling. This is definitely a “party” card and I like it, especially the use of Washi tape and the two sayings you picked.
I was ready to party looking at this card!
I agree with all the comments! Love the card and design. Does make one smile!
This is ah-mazing! Love your tricolored die!
Awesome birthday card and I love the different cake layers.
Wow! So festive and fun! I LOVE your paper choices. Of course, the neatest part is the tri-colored die cuts. So creative…
I really like how you placed the pattern paper behind the birthday pop up. Very clever to stamp it too.
You have inspired me to PLAY with this die! Great use of colors and the sentiment inside – PERFECT!
Very fun card. Bright and cheery!
Over the top adorable!! What a fun card!!! Love, love, love!!!
Now, Ginger! Why you gotta make me want that thinlit??? So cute!
